Introduction
In The Master Alchemist, you are a skilled alchemist controlling a golem. The golem can control five elements: fire, water, air, earth and lightning. It is your objective to use this golem to your advantage and defeat your opponent’s golem. The journey is difficult and long. You must use strategy, wits and skill to win and be claimed as the new successor to the slain master!
Components
2 boards (1 board per player)
50 element cards (25 cards per player)
10 tokens (5 tokens per player)
Boards
This is where you place the cards you’ll be using for the game. It has 4 sectors:
Deck of Mysteries – where you place your deck
Defense Sector – where you place the cards that will be used as your golem’s defense
Attack Sector – where you place the cards that will be used to attack the opposing golem’s defense sectors
Token Sector – where tokens that indicate the number of times
you can still add cards on your defense sectors are placed.
Discard Pile – where you place the cards that are already used.
Element Cards
There are 5 elements available to use inside the game. Players have 5 cards each element (fire, air, water, earth, lightning), making a total of 25 cards. Every element card has 2 strengths and 2 weaknesses that can be seen on the cards themselves.
Tokens
Token represents the number of times you can replenish cards on your defense sector. Replenishing cards can only be done five times, hence five tokens per player.
Setting Up
1. Place the two boards on a table.
2. Place five cards of your choice from your deck and face them down.
3. Shuffle your deck and put it on the Deck of Mysteries
4. Draw 5 cards from your deck.
4. Do a “rock-paper-scissors” as a method to know who’ll be the first to attack.
5. Let the games begin.
Playing The Game
1. Put an element card on your attack sector, and choose what to attack on your opponent's defense sectors. The card that you choose to attack will be shown.
2.1. If your element card's stronger than than the one in the opponent's defense sector, the opponent's card will be sent away from the defense sector and put into the discard pile
2.2. If your element card's weaker, your card will be put into the discard pile and your opponent's card will be faced down again.
3. Each player can replenish their defense sectors. Replenishing cards cost one turn, and you can only do this five times each game. If
a defense sector's been replenished, one token will be taken away from the token sector and be placed under the discard pile.
Game End
The winner of the game will be determined if one of the players had destroyed all of their opponent's defense sectors.
Other Rules
1. If there are no cards left on a player's Deck of Mysteries and on their hand while the opposing player still has cards, the player that still has cards on their deck can still attack the enemy / replenish defense sectors until the deck empties out.
2. A player can attack two cards on their opponent's defense sectors simultaneously, if and only if he/she put two identical element cards on the attack sector.
3. If there are scenarios, wherein both players don't have any cards left on their hand and deck, the player who has more cards on their defense sectors wins the game.
